Reminder: City advises of planned electricity supply interruption in Lansdowne

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department reminds residents in Lansdowne that necessary electricity infrastructure maintenance will be carried out on Wednesday, 20 March 2024, from 06:00 to 18:00 and on 27 March 2024, from 06:00 to 18:00. While the work is being carried out, residents will have electricity supply and will not be affected by stages of Eskom’s load-shedding. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused while the critical maintenance is being carried out.
Some news channels are implying this work is affecting all areas in the city. This is not true. The work will be carried out in Lansdowne only.
Please note that while the work is being carried out, residents will have electricity supply and will not be affected by stages of Eskom’s load-shedding. Electricity supply interruptions may occur when the work commences in the morning and when the maintenance work is completed in the afternoon. Sometimes, tripping can occur, among others.
Due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work, the time of restoration may be delayed by a few hours, or as a result of load-shedding. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all upgrades within the 06:00 to 18:00 communicated time; however, restoration delays may occur due to the intricate nature of the work.
The electricity infrastructure maintenance for Lansdowne will be carried out on:
• Wednesday, 20 March 2024, from 06:00 to 18:00 and on 27 March 2024, from 06:00 to 18:00

The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
